Teen's Health Sites

As children grow to adults, the human body takes shape. Because the body changes so quickly and teens are typically active people, it is important to strengthen and protect one's development. Below are medical health sites guided to serve teen's children's health issues. The following links will be displayed in a second window.

Department of Health and Human Services

The information provided on the adolescent/teen/youth page of the Department of Health and Human Services website spans mental, physical, and emotional wellness issues. Most specific interest requests are directed to other organizations, such as teen violence, dental health, and safety promotion. The National Clearinghouse on Families and Youth provides toll-free crisis hotline numbers. The U.S. Department of HHS also lists various health-related web pages designed for the teenage populations. Esta página disponible en español.

Familydoctor.org

The American Academy of Family Physicians has created a website designed for all members of the family. Familydoctor.org links to Kidshealth.org where adolescents can enter the Teenagers’ section. This creatively-animated section features health-related articles and surveys designed at age-appropriate levels. Parents can enter their own section to find prevention and treatment options for their children. Esta página disponible en español.

Food and Drug Administration

The FDA website for teenagers recognizes the physical and mental demands of healthy living at this important stage of development. The feature articles explore topics such as sensible eating, staying healthy, and other specialized health related topics. A toll free numbers allows visitors to request printed copies of the “Teen Scene” articles which are also available electronically on the website.

Medem™

The Children’s Health section of the Medem’s Medical library includes valuable information about health related issues for teenage care. From issues of learning disabilities, to sexuality, to environmental health, to political issues surrounding adolescent health, this page offers guidance for the development of a teenager at every stage of growth.

Healthfinder®

The Just for You section allows users to visit the Teenager related topics offered on the Healthfinder page. Such topics range from nutritional diets to drug use issues, or even stress factors in day-to-day living. Information is accessed through one of three options: Alphabetical listings, keyword search, or links to other teenage related health organizations. Esta página disponible en español.

Aetna InteliHealth

The Teens’ health page brings its visitors information about the most concerning health-related issues of the young adult population. Feature articles teach the user about specific health issues. Vegetarian diets are explored, as are other healthy living features. Also included are links to hotlines and crisis centers, and other Internet websites designed for the teenage population.
